10 Warning Signs of a Fake Gulf Driver Job

Fake driver jobs cost workers their savings every year. These are the ten signs to watch for, and what to do instead.

Every year drivers lose their savings to fake Gulf jobs. Scammers know drivers want to work abroad quickly, and they use that. Watch for these ten warning signs.

1. You're asked to pay for the job

Genuine Gulf employers don't charge drivers for a job offer. In some countries a licensed agency may charge a limited, receipted fee by law (India caps it at ₹30,000 + GST). A demand for large sums, especially before you have a written offer, is the biggest red flag.

2. "Come on a visit visa, we'll change it later"

Working on a visit visa is illegal. You can be fined, detained or banned. A real job comes with a work visa.

3. The salary is too good

A first-time house driver offered SAR 5,000 or AED 8,000 with everything free? Compare with our salary guides. Unrealistic pay is bait.

4. No company name, or a company you can't find

Search the company name. A real company has an address, a phone number and a history. Be wary of offers that only give a WhatsApp number.

5. The agency has no licence number

Licensed agencies display their licence. Check it on the official government list. See how to check an agency.

6. Pressure to decide now

"Only 2 seats left, pay today." Real hiring takes time: interviews, medicals, visa processing.

7. The offer letter looks wrong

Spelling mistakes, Gmail addresses for large companies, logos copied from the internet, and no signatory are all common in fake letters.

8. They want your bank login or card details

No employer needs your bank password, OTP or card PIN. Never share them.

9. The interview is only by chat

Genuine employers or agencies hold a real interview, by video, phone or in person, and many test your driving.

10. The job keeps changing

You applied for a company driver job, and now it's "labour" or a different country. Stop and ask why.

Common questions

Is it safe to apply to jobs on ArabDriverJobs?

Applying is free and we remove reported fake listings. Still, verify every employer or agency yourself before paying anything or sending your passport.

I already paid. Can I get my money back?

Report it right away to the police and your emigration authority, with all receipts and messages. Fast reporting gives the best chance.

Are jobs shared in WhatsApp groups real?

Some are, many aren't. Treat any forwarded job as unverified until you've checked the company and the agency's licence.

How do I check a company in the Gulf?

Look for an official website, a physical address and a landline. Search the company name with the word 'scam'. Ask for a video interview.
